How We Met

Vacation Selfie

We met on a day that started out especially stressful for David, who had just finished coordinating a large commencement ceremony at work. That evening, he reconnected with a friend and went to a concert, which led to an invitation to a birthday gathering at a nearby bar. That’s where we were introduced.

On a Walk in the Neighborhood

America almost didn’t go out that night. She had already enjoyed a full evening and was ready to stay in, but her friends encouraged her to join them for the birthday celebration. She decided to go, and that’s when our paths finally crossed.

We quickly noticed how easy it was to talk to each other, starting with a lighthearted joke about being tall at a crowded bar. As the conversation continued, we discovered shared interests, including movies, and made plans to see a new film together. From that first meeting, something just clicked, and the rest is history.

Our Cultural Heritage

We both come from rich Latin backgrounds. America’s parents are from Mexico, and David’s mother is from Ecuador, while his father was born and raised in the United States and identifies as Italian American. Both of us were raised in Catholic families, America’s through regular Sunday church, and David’s through Catholic school, where he attended services multiple times a week.

Family has always been central in our lives. We are blessed with large, close-knit extended families both locally, across the country, and abroad. Sunday dinners and gatherings have always been a priority, along with celebrating life’s biggest moments: birthdays, weddings, graduations, and even honoring loved ones we’ve lost. While we are no longer practicing Catholics, we continue to value the traditions, connection, and sense of togetherness that shaped us. We make it a priority to stay close with our families and carry those values into the life we are building together.

Our Lifestyle

Our lifestyle is a balance of structure, connection, and enjoying everyday moments together. We both work Monday through Friday with hybrid schedules, which allows us flexibility and time at home. On days we work remotely, mornings often begin with a walk with our dogs, giving us a calm and grounding start to the day.

During the week, our evenings are a mix of routine and meaningful connection. We enjoy cooking dinner together, catching up on our days, and spending quality time at home. David also has band practice and a weekly men’s support team, while we make space for relaxation and occasional date nights or time with friends and family.

Family is a big part of our lives. On Fridays and Sundays, we often gather with America’s mother, sister, and nephews for dinner, creating a strong sense of connection and tradition.

Weekends are flexible and fun; we enjoy hosting friends, attending concerts, exploring new restaurants, and spending time outdoors. No matter what we are doing, we value creating a warm, balanced, and loving home, and we look forward to sharing that daily rhythm with a child.

Our Extended Families

Merry Christmas!

We are fortunate to have a very close and supportive extended family. America’s immediate family lives just a few miles away, and we spend time together regularly, most often on Fridays and Sundays. These gatherings usually take place at her mother’s home, where we meet with America’s sister and her two teenage nephews. We enjoy simple, meaningful traditions like walking our dogs together, sharing dinner around the table, and relaxing while watching new TV shows or introducing the boys to favorite films they haven’t seen yet. We also enjoy going out together, whether it’s a trip to the movies, a day at a theme park, or celebrating the nephews’ birthdays with a special annual weekend getaway. As the boys have gotten older, we’ve even started attending concerts together, which has become something we all genuinely look forward to. We also love hosting small get-togethers at our home, bringing together America’s family and close friends in a warm and welcoming environment. In addition to her immediate family, America has other siblings, nieces, and nephews whom we see on special occasions and holidays. David also comes from a large family, including a sister, cousins, aunts, and uncles who live nearby. His father lives in Boston, and we make it a priority to stay connected, either by visiting him or spending time when he comes to LA. Family plays a central role in our lives, and we truly value the love, connection, and sense of belonging that comes from spending time together.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in California in a warm, family-friendly neighborhood that offers a wonderful balance of city convenience and community connection. Our area is diverse, welcoming, and home to families with young children, creating a lively and supportive environment. It is common to see neighbors out walking dogs, riding bikes, or gathering at the nearby park. Throughout the year, our community hosts seasonal events such as holiday festivals, outdoor movie nights, farmer markets, and neighborhood celebrations that bring families together and offer children opportunities to build friendships. Several families on our street and in surrounding blocks have children of different ages, and we often see them walking to and from school, located two blocks down our street, and to the park, a block up from our home.

Our home is comfortable, bright, and thoughtfully arranged, with one bedroom, cozy shared living spaces, and a backyard where we relax or host small gatherings. One of our favorite spaces is the living room, where we unwind together, watch movies, and imagine future moments like reading bedtime stories or celebrating milestones. Nearby park, green walking paths, and community recreation spaces, including playgrounds and a library, offer plenty of opportunities for outdoor play, learning, and connection. We take pride in maintaining a welcoming curb appeal with plants and roses that make our home feel warm and inviting, and we look forward to creating a safe, loving place where a child can grow, explore, and truly feel at home.

From Us to You

Hello, we are David and America.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for taking the time to read about us. We know that choosing an adoptive family may be one of the most significant decisions of your life, and we do not take it lightly that you are here. While we cannot fully understand what you are feeling in this moment, we want you to know that we approach this with deep respect, compassion, and admiration for you. The love you already have for your child, the love that brought you to this place, is something we honor completely.

We have been together since mid-2019 and married in 2022. From the very beginning, we felt something rare and real between us, a connection that felt natural and right almost immediately. We often say we knew very quickly that what we had was something special worth building a life around. Building a family was a conversation we came to early and openly. Adoption was never a second thought for us. It was always part of the picture we both imagined. The idea of welcoming a child into our home, loving them fully, and watching them grow feels like one of the greatest honors our lives could hold. We have been working toward this moment with intention, preparation, and a great deal of love already in place.

Family is the center of our world. We are surrounded by a large, warm, and enthusiastic extended family, people who are already counting down the days to welcome a child into the fold with wide-open arms. Many of our weekends are spent sharing meals, taking long walks, going to concerts, celebrating birthdays, or simply being together, laughing over nothing in particular. We have nieces and nephews who have already brought so much joy into our lives, and we have seen firsthand how deeply a child can enrich everything around them.

The childhood we imagine for a child is one filled with tradition and tenderness, holiday gatherings that are loud and full of love, bedtime stories, music sessions, family movie nights, trips to parks and museums, lazy Sunday mornings, and the kind of everyday moments that quietly become someone’s favorite memories. We will celebrate curiosity, encourage kindness, and support whatever unique personality and passions emerge. Above all, we will make sure they always know they are safe, seen, and unconditionally loved.

We want to speak directly to something that matters deeply to us: your place in your child’s story.

If you choose us, we promise that your child will always know about you, and they will know with honesty, warmth, and gratitude. We will never speak of you as anything other than the courageous, loving person you are. We are committed to sending letters and photos so you can continue to witness their milestones and growth. We are also genuinely open to additional contact, emails, phone calls, and potentially visits. In whatever form feels right and comfortable for everyone as time goes on. We do not see openness as a complication. We see it as a gift to your child, and we welcome it.

Our hope is to build something real with you, a relationship grounded in trust, mutual respect, and a shared love for a child who will always know they were chosen with great care from both sides. We understand that placing your trust in another family takes tremendous faith and courage. If you feel a connection with us as you read these words, we would be deeply honored to walk this journey alongside you and to give your child a life filled with love, laughter, belonging, and every opportunity to become exactly who they are meant to be.

Thank you, truly, for considering us. Whatever you decide, we wish you peace and hope.
