Our Children

Our Family

Our family includes two energetic little boys who make every day fun. Jacob is 3½ years old and has such a caring personality. He loves helping with everyday tasks, whether it's putting away laundry, feeding the dogs, or showing his younger brother how to do something new. He's always asking questions and enjoys figuring out how things work. If someone is upset, he's usually the first one to notice and offer a hug. As he proudly likes to say, he really is "sweet as honey."

Isaac is 2 years old and has a personality that keeps us on our toes. He believes every couch is a mountain to climb and starts dancing whenever he hears music, whether it's at church, the grocery store, or in our kitchen. We call him our little cuddle bug, and he lives up to that name. He also loves snacks, especially when he gets to eat them outside at his little picnic table on our screened-in porch.

Our boys are already excited about the idea of another brother or sister. They love babies and are always eager to help, so we can easily picture them bringing diapers, reading books, sharing toys, and making their new sibling laugh. More than anything, we want each of our children to know they are loved unconditionally.

Our Family Traditions

Happy Labor Day!

One of our favorite traditions is our annual Labor Day gathering with Brock's extended family. Every year, family members from several generations and all across the country come together for the weekend. The kids spend hours playing with their cousins while the adults catch up, tell old family stories, and laugh together. The evenings often end with everyone staying up late around the table playing board games. One of the highlights is the Labor Day parade, where the streets are lined with families, and the kids excitedly collect bagfuls of candy. After the parade, everyone gathers at Brock's grandmother's house for a big family lunch featuring fried chicken and Italian beef. It's one of those weekends everyone looks forward to all year, and it's been so much fun watching our boys get to know their extended family. Christmas is another season filled with traditions in our home. Because of our German heritage, we celebrate St. Nicholas Day on December 6 by setting the boys' shoes outside their doors before bed. They wake up to find them filled with little surprises. Throughout the season, we wear matching Christmas pajamas, read Christmas stories, bake cookies, and drive around looking at Christmas lights. Decorating the tree is another tradition we love. Each year, we choose an ornament that reminds us of a special memory from the past year, and it's become one of our favorite ways to look back on those moments together. We look forward to sharing these traditions with another child.

Our Leisure Time

Museum Day

This season of life is wonderfully busy with two young boys, but we also make time for our own hobbies. Micha enjoys exercising, reading, and trying new recipes. Brock enjoys grilling, playing card games, and hiking. Together, we love playing board games, trying new restaurants, traveling, and cheering on our favorite sports teams. While Micha spends her days at home with the boys, there's almost always an adventure planned. Whether we're heading to the park, the library, or meeting friends for a playdate, we love getting out and exploring. Reading is another favorite in our home, and it's common to find everyone curled up on the couch with a stack of books. Micha also enjoys coming up with hands-on learning activities, whether it's an alphabet scavenger hunt, a color-matching game, or a holiday-themed sensory bin. When Brock gets home from work, outdoor family time is the best part of our day. Our boys love splashing in the water table, and we take family walks or bike rides most evenings. We also enjoy watching our boys build confidence through weekly swim lessons and gymnastics. On weekends, you'll often find us at Jacob's soccer or t-ball games, the farmers' market, the zoo, a children's museum, or anywhere our boys can explore.

Our Extended Families

With Brock's Brothers and their Families

Brock grew up with three siblings and two step-siblings. Now that they all have families of their own, gatherings are always busy, loud, and full of laughter. Three of his siblings live nearby, so we make it a point to get together regularly. Watching all of the cousins grow up together has been one of our favorite parts of this season of life.

Egg Hunt with the Cousins

Micha was raised as an only child, so her family is much smaller and close-knit. Her parents and grandparents all live in the same town as us, which means we get to see them several times a week. Whether it's sharing a meal, celebrating something special, or just stopping by to visit, we're thankful to have them so close.

We look forward to our annual beach trip to North Carolina where Brock's parents live. We love spending family time and slowing down from everyday life, and we can't wait to share these trips with another child someday. Both of our families have been incredibly supportive of our adoption journey. They are excited to welcome another child with open arms, and we know our children will always be surrounded by people who love them deeply.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in suburban Missouri in a ranch-style home that we custom-built with our growing family in mind. One of our favorite things about our home is how well it fits this season of life as we're raising young children. It has a dedicated playroom, and nearly our entire finished basement has become a space filled with toys, books, and plenty of room for imagination. Our neighborhood is made up of wooded three-acre lots, giving us plenty of privacy while still enjoying a wonderful sense of community. We live on a quiet cul-de-sac with a large driveway and backyard where our boys love to run and play. It's common to see deer wandering through the neighborhood, and we love taking family walks and bike rides together. There are several families with young children nearby, and our home is often filled with friends and their kids for playdates. We're also fortunate to have several wonderful parks and playgrounds just minutes away. One of our favorite features is the Storybook Walk, where pages from a children's book are displayed along a walking trail in partnership with our local library. The story changes each month, so there's always something new for us to discover together. While we love the peaceful feel of our neighborhood, we're also less than 10 minutes from a growing suburban community and about 35 minutes from a major city, giving us easy access to museums, sporting events, restaurants, and plenty of opportunities for family adventures.

From Us to You

We're so grateful you've taken a moment to get to know us. We recognize the weight of this decision, and we are deeply honored that you would consider our family.

We have been together since 2016, and we were married in 2020. One of the things we love most about our marriage is that we truly enjoy being together. We laugh a lot and make a great team. Whether we're chasing our boys around the cul-de-sac, having friends and family over for dinner, or catching up after the kids have gone to bed, we love the life we've built together. Our home is filled with the happy chaos that comes with raising two young boys. Jacob is endlessly curious, and Isaac is determined to keep up with his big brother. Most days include forts made from couch cushions, toy cars scattered across the floor, imaginative play, and plenty of time outside. Those ordinary moments have become some of our favorites.

Micha spends her days at home with the boys, and she loves making each day a little different. Some days that means a trip to the park or library, while other days it means setting up a simple craft at the kitchen table or a scavenger hunt around the house. She loves watching the boys discover new things and seeing their excitement over something as simple as finding a dandelion or picking out new library books. Brock brings a steady, calming presence to our family. One of the things we're especially grateful for is that he works just 3½ days a week and is home by 5pm, giving him so much time to be a dad. After a day at work, he's ready to jump right into whatever Jacob and Isaac are doing, whether that's building train tracks, playing outside, or reading stories. Jacob and Isaac wait at the door for him to get home, and watching them run to greet him is one of Micha's favorite parts of the day.

Family has always been a big part of our lives. We are fortunate to have grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close family friends who are actively involved in our children's lives. We don't wait for holidays to spend time together. It's common for us to gather for dinner, celebrate birthdays, or simply spend an afternoon together because someone suggested it.

Our Christian faith is an important part of who we are and influences the way we parent. It also played a role in how we came to adoption. Long before we started this process, we often talked about adoption and wondered if it would one day be part of our immediate family. After learning that we could no longer safely have more biological children, those conversations took on new meaning. While that wasn't the path we expected, we never doubted that we wanted to continue growing our family. We can't wait to meet the child who joins our family and watch Jacob and Isaac become big brothers all over again.

If you choose us, your child will be welcomed by two excited big brothers, loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who are all excited to meet them. We already know they'll have people cheering them on from the very beginning. We also want you to know that your place in your child's story will always matter. We believe adoption is built on honesty, respect, and gratitude. Your child will know their adoption story and will know how deeply they were loved from the very beginning. We value open adoption and would be happy to share letters and pictures as your child grows. We're also open to talking about additional contact, whether that's emails, phone calls, or visits. We understand that every adoption is different, and we hope to build a relationship that feels comfortable and meaningful for everyone involved.

Thank you again for taking the time to get to know us. No matter where your journey leads, we are praying for you, your child, and peace as you make the decisions ahead. If you choose us, it would be one of the greatest privileges of our lives.

With love and gratitude,

Brock & Micha
