Diego & Evan
The thought of welcoming a child into our lives fills us with joy and gratitude. Our relationship is grounded in love, trust, and mutual care, and we're eager to extend that foundation as parents. We promise to create a home where your child will always feel safe, supported, and free to be exactly who they are, dream big, grow with confidence, and be celebrated every step of the way. We're honored to be considered.
Our Leisure Time

Travel has become a big part of our lives. It's something we truly cherish whether it's just the two of us exploring somewhere new or going on adventures with the people we love most. Since we live far from family, it's been our tradition from early on to travel regularly, creating special memories and spending quality time with our parents, siblings, and the many nieces and nephews we're lucky to share. Travel gives us the chance to learn, experience new cultures, and find inspiration. As designers, we're especially drawn to seeing architecture and design in real life, witnessing the creativity and craftsmanship that's stood the test of time. But more than anything, travel gives us moments as a family: watching the younger members in our family make new friends at a park in a new city, seeing the excitement in each other's eyes, or enjoying great meals together.
Last summer, for example, we traveled to Italy with Diego's mom and younger sister. We visited several cities, ate our weight in gelato, and made memories that we'll always hold close. We even got to return to a city that's especially meaningful to us, Milan, and introduce some friends from home to the places and people that have become part of our story there.
Our Passions

Architecture is what first brought us together back in our freshman year of college. What started as a shared interest quickly became a foundation for a relationship that has grown over the past 15 years shaped by design, art, and creativity. While we each have our own unique design styles, this shared passion has always connected us in a meaningful way. We've seen each other evolve and supported one another through big career moments and challenges along the way. Most recently, that journey led us to start our own design studio, something we had dreamed about for years.
We feel incredibly fortunate to work side by side every day. Building a business together has taken time, dedication, and a lot of hard work, but it's also been deeply rewarding. We get to travel, collaborate with amazing people and communities, and bring our shared vision to life through our projects. For us, this is more than just a job, it's a big part of who we are. We love being able to share our work and creative energy with those around us, especially the younger kids in our family. Whether it's showing them what we're working on or encouraging them to express their own creativity, it's important to us to create space for imagination, exploration, and inspiration in everyday life.
Adoption in Our Family
As a same-sex couple, adoption has always felt like the natural and viable path for us to grow our family. Over the years, we've been inspired by the many friends, neighbors, and loved ones around us who have had truly positive adoption experiences.
Adoption has a particularly special place in Evan's heart. His oldest brother was adopted at birth after Evan's parents faced a few challenging attempts to conceive. Just one month after welcoming his brother into the family, they were surprised to find out they were expecting again Evan's middle brother. Growing up in such a loving family gave Evan a deep understanding that the bond between siblings isn't defined by biology, but by love, connection, and shared experiences.
Recently, Evan's older brother had the opportunity to connect with his birth mother. Watching that journey unfold gave Evan a perspective on the importance of identity and how meaningful it can be for adoptive children to have those answers. It's been a reminder of the many ways adoption can be a life-enriching experience not just for parents and children, but for entire families.

Our House and Neighborhood

We have lived in South Carolina for a little over four years now. We live in an urban area with a tight-knit community where we can walk to many of our favorite spots which include our local coffee shop, the waterfront, and a large park with trails, playground, and athletic fields. We're also fortunate to be friends with our neighbors and have some of our best friends just within blocks of our house. Even on our street, we have a mix of new young families and neighbors who have lived here for decades.
We live in a two-bedroom, two-bath, cottage-style house with a large fenced in back yard where we like to host summer barbecues, run around with our dog, and garden come spring time. Our house also backs up to a wonderful elementary and middle school, which many of our friends' children attend.
Our design studio, where we both work from, is conveniently located two blocks from our house in which we have the opportunity to walk to everyday and be close to home where we come home for lunch and grants us flexibility. A lot of our work is located in and around our neighborhood and the surrounding areas, which allows to us to become an integral part of this community and to connect with our neighbors, and community leaders.
Our Extended Families

Family has always been important to us. Evan has two older brothers and Diego has an older and younger sister. Combined, we are the fun uncles to 8 nieces and nephews ranging from ages 2 to 12 years old. While we have lived away from our family over the years, we are fortunate to have a close-knit relationship and get to see them at various times throughout the year. Our parents and siblings love coming and visiting us, and we also enjoy retreating home for the holidays for extended periods of time.

When we're together with family, we enjoy cooking large meals, taking the kids out to the movies or ice cream, or simply playing in Evan's parents' backyard with the kids and dogs. With Diego's niece and nephew, since they're older, we love attending their respective sports and recitals, and traveling with them.
A unique part of our families is the multi-racial and multi-cultural aspect. Diego's family is Hispanic and from an early on, we have valued the different traditions each other's families share and continue to celebrate them. A fun activity is having Diego's grandmother teaching us her traditional Venezuelan recipes and then sharing them with Evan's family back in Indiana.
From Us to You

We've dreamed about the day we'd get to meet you. The opportunity you're giving us to grow our family is truly the most meaningful gift we could ever receive. Even though we haven't met you yet, we already know you must be an incredible person to consider something so selfless and life-changing. We see you, we appreciate you, and we will always hold deep gratitude for the role you play in our lives and in the life of this child.
We'd love to share a little bit about ourselves. Evan grew up in a family of five in Indiana, right in the heart of the Midwest. Diego was born in Venezuela and moved to Miami at a young age, where he grew up with his older and younger sisters. Together, our extended family has grown with twelve nieces and nephews and our lives are full of laughter, love, and energy because of them.
Our story began back in 2010 at the Savannah College of Art and Design. We met on move-in weekend and started dating just a few months later. We made it through the highs and lows of Architecture School together, earning both our Bachelor's and Master's degrees. After graduation, things were uncertain. We each moved back to our home states without knowing what the future would hold. It was a difficult time, not knowing if we'd end up in the same place again. But, within a week of each other, we both got job offers in New York City, an unexpected blessing that brought us back together. That chapter made our relationship stronger, and a few years later, we got engaged.
We spent nearly seven years in NYC, focused on building our careers. Eventually, though, we found ourselves longing for a slower pace, a strong sense of community, and a place to start a family. We'd always loved the South, so moving back felt natural. South Carolina has been home for the past four years, and in that time, we've built a life surrounded by close friends, meaningful connections, and a community centered around family.
Now, here we are reaching out to you, hoping to grow our family through your incredible generosity. If you choose us, please know how seriously we take this responsibility. Your child will be raised in a home filled with love, encouragement, and acceptance. We believe in open communication and navigating life's ups and downs with kindness, support, and understanding. We will be their biggest cheerleaders, their safe place, and their constant source of love as they grow into whoever they are meant to be.
We also want you to know that your place in this child's life will always be honored. You are and will always be their mother. If we're fortunate enough to be chosen, this wonderful child will have two loving dads, and we hope to build a relationship with you that allows us to share milestones, photos, and special moments as they grow. From the very beginning, we'll make sure they know who you are, and how deeply loved they are by you, too. You are extraordinary, and we'll never stop being thankful for the gift you've given all of us.
Our absolute warmest,
Diego & Evan
