Our Leisure Time

Softball Champs!

We stay busy throughout the year with a myriad of things that keep us busy. Scott likes to attend functions, like sporting events, at the High School he works at. Ariana is very active with her job as well. Ariana is a Physical Therapist for people with neurological disorders, and some of her work is for the Arizona ALS association. We go to several ALS benefits throughout the year, some are ALS walks, others are more of a fundraising gala.

We play softball together once a week, that is how we met. We have been playing together for over 6 years now, its a truly one of our favorite things to do together. We also like to go to Arizona Diamondback and Phoenix Mercury games. We love to watch live sports.

We both love to travel, and do so frequently. Many of our travels take us to the parts of the country where our families live like California, Minnesota, or Montana.

We are looking forward to traveling with our child to make sure he gets a lot of exposure to their extended family. We also look forward to taking our child to the Diamondbacks games!

Our Individual Strengths

Happy Together

Scott About Ariana: She is an incredibly focused person. Ariana is an extremely hard worker in both her personal and professional life. One of Ariana's greatest skills is how she thinks about other people. She constantly is thinking about how she can help or bring a smile to her friends of family. She is the kind of person who make sure that cookies or a cake is delivered to your house if she knows she will miss your birthday. She is a great listener and takes that information and uses it to help the people closest to her.

Ariana About Scott: Scott is a helper. He is someone who wants to shoulder the load of his friends and families problems because he thinks he can always be of help. He is the kind of man who would carry an elderly person's groceries to their car, or help a disabled vehicle to get out of the road. Scott is also funny, and tries to use his sense of humor when people are down or are having a bad day.

Our Cultural Heritage

Ariana was born and raised in Arizona to a multicultural family. Ariana’s father is Persian and moved to the United States for college and ended up staying for graduate school and beyond. Ariana's mother was born in Arizona, but is a third-generation Mexican American. This provided her a truly unique blended family. This is represented by some of the Islamic beliefs and traditions that she celebrates, as well as the Catholic traditions from her mother's side. Ariana has spent her life recognizing and celebrating different holidays like Persian New Year and Christmas.

Scott was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Scott's father is French, Scottish, and Swedish. Scott's mother in Finnish and Swedish. His mother is Lutheran and his Father is Catholic. Scott closer identifies his cultural heritage as Finnish and Swedish due to the relationship with those grandparents. Because his family is less tied to cultural traditions he sees himself as a Minnesotan and that specific American culture that is fostered in that state.

We ourselves are a multicultural house before we adopt. We have always been interested and understanding in other cultures, and it was only more affirmed when we met each other and were able to adopt each other's traditions.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in an up and coming neighborhood in Central Phoenix. . We live on a cul-de-sac with 13 homes. Many of the houses in our area are filled with families with young children. Our next door neighbors 6-month-old infant, and the neighbors across the street have several children, with the youngest being 2. As we walk the dog up and down the streets we see so many families out; going on bike rides, walking their dogs, playing basketball in the street, or just hanging out. For Halloween our neighbors block off a long section of street for the kids to trick-or-treat on.

Our home is a four-bedroom and three-bathroom house. We have a living room that is open to the kitchen and dining area. We tend to gather in the living room the most, as we love to spend time together after work. We have a front yard and covered porch. In the backyard is a shallow swimming pool, nice outdoor eating set-up, grilling area, and two grassy areas for our doggy to run about.

Our Extended Families

Ariana's Family

Our family gets together often. One set of our parents live a few miles away, the rest of our immediate families live out of state. We see them at least 4-6 times per year.

We always get together over Christmas. The entire family gathers in our hometown for at least a few days. We have soup, stories, and s'mores on Christmas eve. We also make sure to facetime during No-Ruz.

Scott's Family

Our family is unique because it is such a blend of people and cultures. We have several ethnicities, religions, political beliefs, and levels of education in the family.

Our family is super supportive of our adoption plan. They all want this for the two of us and have already shown a tremendous amount of support for us. We know the whole family will be with us on this entire journey. Both of our parents are very excited for us to have our own child and start to grow our family.

From Us to You

Hi. We're Scott and Ariana, and we want to start by saying thank you for taking the time to learn a little about us. We can only imagine how many emotions you might be feeling as you consider adoption, and we want you to know that we see you, respect you, and are holding space in our hearts for you-wherever you are in your journey.

We met playing softball (co-ed rec league) about five years ago, and that playful beginning grew into a deep bond and supportive relationship built on love, laughter, and team work. We were engaged 1 year into our relationship and married a year after that. When you know, you know, so we found out. Today, we're still each other's biggest fans-on and off the field. Scott is a high school history teacher who brings a great sense of humor, patience, and kindness to both his students and our everyday life. He loves being outdoors, camping and fishing, and throwing the ball around with Ariana. Ariana is a physical therapist who works with people recovering from neurological conditions (like stroke, brain injury). She's incredibly nurturing and generous, and her greatest joy comes from caring for others, whether it's her patients or our big extended family.

We live in Phoenix, Arizona, not far from Ariana's parents, who are a huge part of our lives. All our family is, but since Ariana's parents are so close by, we do see them often. We have a silly and sweet 13-month-old Bernedoodle puppy named Franklin who hikes, camps, and plays fetch. Though our siblings live in other states, we make it a point to stay close and visit often. Family is everything to us.

When we started trying to grow our family, we also started IVF. We had always talked about adoption, but after going through the heartbreak involved with the IVF process including miscarriages and failed attempts, we came back to that hope with even more clarity and peace. We realized that adoption wasn't our Plan B- it was part of our path all along. We are ready to open our hearts and home, and we have so much love to give.

If you choose us to be part of your child's life, we want you to know that we are committed to raising them in a home filled with love, laughter, encouragement, and support. We will honor where they came from and speak of you with gratitude and respect. We are open to have as much contact as you're comfortable with-whether that's letters, pictures, or visits-and we're always open to talking about how to navigate that together.

More than anything, we want you to know that this child will be so deeply loved, by us, by our family, and by the community around us. We will make sure they grow up knowing who they are, where they came from, and just how loved they've always been.

Thank you for even considering us. No matter what decision you make, we are wishing you strength, peace, and love on this journey.

Warmly,

Scott & Ariana
